Bansko Officially Open for the 2018/19 Winter Season

0

Almost two weeks after the first lifts started spinning, the 2018/19 winter season has officially kicked off here today in Bansko, Bulgaria. Just like every other year, the resort management threw an opening party up on the slopes with plenty of games and prizes for the crowd. Some special guest were there, including five-time World Cup overall champion Marc Girardelli.

The Tomba Ski Run

The biggest news of the day is that the Ski Road that leads down to Bansko from the slopes is open and with plenty of snow. Other than that, the Kolarski and Tomba ski runs are also open at the moment and more should be skiable soon. The weather warmed up today and we did see some icy rain at the lower part of the resort area, but up top, the colder temperature prevailed and it was snowing. But even the bad weather couldn’t keep eager visitors from trying their skill and luck in the games organized by the resort. The most popular is the “Treasure Hunt” game, where the big prize is a new car.

New for Traventuria this season.

The biggest news for our rental shop this year is the addition of a professional automatic ski servicing robot, that will ensure each ski is perfectly serviced after each rental. Read more about that HERE. This year we’ve also done the biggest update of equipment in our company’s history and have on stock hundreds of new skis and snowboards from HEAD, Atomic, Fisher, K2 and others. In the boots department, we have a few hundred new pairs of ski and snowboard boots waiting to be used for the first time. We’ll be posting more on our new gear very soon and reviews throughout the season.

Ever since I started skiing at the age of 6, I knew that the mountains were where I wanted to be as much as possible. I enjoy most mostly big mountain skiing during the winter, but am happy just being out of the city.
