New Awards for Traventuria in 2016

As 2016 comes to an end it’s a good time to look back at the passing year. During 2016, Traventuria Ltd. has had the pleasure of working with thousands of tourist in Bulgaria, both in summer and in winter. But two big highlights of our year were the two awards we received in recognition of our efforts to give back to the community and protect the environment.

The first award we received was from the Bulgarian Foundation for Biodiversity in the category “Businesses which support biodiversity” for our “Tours with a Cause” initiative. The idea behind “Tours with a Cause” is to showcase the best Bulgaria has to offer in terms of nature and simultaneously gather funds for various organizations, which protect the biodiversity in Bulgaria. Such tours were organized to the Belasitsa and Rusenski Lom nature parks, the Kresna protected zone, the Burgas wetlands of international importance and many more. Other than showing Bulgaria’s nature and beauty to hundreds of people, each of these trips financially supported important local causes.

Our second award for 2016 came from Maria’s World Foundation in the category “Corporate Dream Wizard of the Year”. Maria’s World is a foundation which helps people with intellectual disabilities to become more independent and ultimately, to help them get a job. To achieve this, it’s very important for the members of Maria’s World to see new places, try new things, build their confidence and to show people, that they too can enjoy life, just as everyone else. For them we organised a free trip to Borovets, where participants got to ride the gondola to the top station, ski with an instructor for the first time and have lots of fun on the snow with sleds and snowshoes. For many members of Maria’s World Foundation, this was their first day trip away from home with their friends and their first time in a ski resort, let alone being at 2550 m.asl. They got to see the beautiful peaks of Rila and taste the joy of skiing for the first time. In the end, the main goal of the trip was to broaden their horizons, and we accomplished that.

We would like to thank both organizations for their recognition and we plan to increase our efforts to give back to the world around us in 2017!

Ever since I started skiing at the age of 6, I knew that the mountains were where I wanted to be as much as possible. I enjoy most mostly big mountain skiing during the winter, but am happy just being out of the city.
