World Snow Day was started by the FIS as an initiative to get more children on the slopes and to enjoy the snowy season in general. It’s an annual event held every year on the 17th of January since 2009 and has been getting bigger every year. This year there will be over 450 events held all over the world, including Bulgaria!
This year Bansko will hold their event on Saturday the 16th and its a lineup most of you will probably enjoy. The show starts at 10AM with music, dancing and a Star Wars flash mob. I guess it’s not really a flash mob if everyone knows about it before hand, but still sounds interesting. There will also be lot’s of gifts for the kids.
The second part of the show starts at 1 PM and includes one of my favorite Bulgarian rap bands “Upsurt” (although it wouldn’t be my first choice for a children orientated initiative, but whatever). You can also expect a guest appearance by Mexican prince Hubertus of Hohenlohe-Langenburg.
At 2 PM there will be a rock concert by the group “The Legends”. An ensamble of some of the best Bulgarian rock artist from the past 40 years.
There will be discounts on lift tickets for the gondola only. Two-way adult tickets will be 10lv (note that this isn’t a day pass, just to go up and down with the gondola once).
The forecast is for tons of snow to fall over the whole weekend, so we’ll see how that will affect the organization. The forecast is made by snow-forecast.com and can change at any given time.
