Bansko season opening 2017/18

0

Winter isn’t coming, it’s already here! Bansko will officially open its lifts on Saturday, the 16th of December with a spectacular show and full day of fun and games. Special guests this year are Marc Girardelli and Kristian Ghedina, one of the best Italian alpine skiers of all time. If you can’t wait until Saturday, resort management has already opened some ski runs with lift prices at 30 leva a day until the 19th of December.

Currently, only the Kolarski and Kotvata ski runs are open, as well as Bunderishka Poliana. The forecast now is for more snow over the weekend, so more ski runs should be opening soon.

The highlight of the opening day is the “Treasure Hunt” game, where the grand prize is a brand new car. Other games include “Skiing with the Champs”, where participants are split into two teams, each headed by one of the special guests and new for this year – “Find Gold on the Lifts”. We couldn’t find much information about this game, but the name speaks for itself. The festivities start at 13:00 on Bunderishka Poliana. Afterwards, the party will move to the central square in Bansko.

New in Bansko for 2017/18

This year there are no knew lifts, but new snow cannons have been mounted on some of the slopes, which didn’t have snowmaking facilities until now. Most notably the top of the N.2 and N.4 slopes have artificial snow cannons.
