No new snow over the last week here in Bansko, but low temperatures have allowed the resort management to make a lot of artificial snow. Since today, a few more slopes have opened a week before the official season start here on the 17th of December.
Since last week, the Kolarski ski lift has been working, allowing access to the N.1, 7 and 8 slopes. Conditions here continue to remain stable and the slope is hard throughout the day. Whats new it that the ski barge Stara Kotva is now working, so you can do quick runs on the red N.7. Unlike last Saturday, this time there were no lift lines anywhere whatsoever. There was only a small lift line for ski barge Panica B.
Starting today some of our favorite lifts are working. The Shiligarnik and Mosta lifts started spinning, but only the N.10 and the end of the N.12 slopes were open. The snow conditions were hard and not that perfect corduroy were used to seeing early in the morning. Large parts of the slope had small ice chunks, but nothing too bad. Once the sun came out the snow softened and was perfect for skiing. Tuned edges are highly recommended at the moment.
The ski road is also open and perfectly made all the way down to Bansko. No taking off your skis, no rocks, no stalling, just skiing all the way down. Not bad for the 10th of December. Much faster and funner than taking the gondola down. Good news is that it’s been fixed and reinforced, so no more tight squeezes anywhere.
