Snow Check 5th of January 2016

Check out our video report and read below our thoughts on the snow conditions.

So we’ve all be waiting for the big snow dump that all the forecast websites have been promising us. Well it finally came. On the 3rd and 4th Bansko got quite a bit of new snowfall, however it seems as if it snowed more in town than on the mountain. None the less, we still got to ski on some fresh snow.

On the morning of the 5th, after the second day of snowfall there was a warm southern breeze bringing up the temperatures and making the snow hard, instead of fluffy. In short term this meant that the snow we were going to ski for the day would be hard and not that perfect. But in the long term its a good thing, because now the snow on the really big freeride lines will be hopefully more stable later in the season.

No new slopes open, but we still did a lot of runs on the N.5, even though its closed. Keep in mind if you’re skiing on the closed runs, that under the snow are a lot of rocks, branches and ice blocks from the snow cat. It’s a “go at your own risk” situation. The forecast is predicting more snow to fall over the next few days, so keep your fingers crossed.
