Greetings from snowy Bansko at the beginning of February. Today was sunny, but quite windy. However, warmer weather and no wind are expected for the weekend, so stay tuned and read on our weekly snow report.
Week Overview
We had great snow and skiing conditions throughout the whole week, except on Tuesday (30.01) when it was quite cold and windy, especially at Todorka. Despite the colder weather, skiing conditions were good and slopes were quite busy. However, there were no queues for the lifts.
Yesterday (01.02) was very sunny and warm, without any wind in the mountains with perfect skiing conditions up until noon time. After 1 pm snow started to get slushy and very heavy.
Today, as we mentioned above, was sunny, however windy. The wind was cold and left the feeling for very chilly weather.
Open Slopes
All slopes are open except for Balkaniada, Tomba, Chalin Valog 1, Ski Road 2, Tsyrna Mogila.
Lifts and Queues
All lifts are working except for Stara Kotva and Tsyrna Mogila. The morning wait in line for the Gondola is from 10 to 20 minutes. However, this will change next weekend (10.02, 11.02), not only because of the FSI World Cup in town, but because of the half term break beginning on the 11th of February. Expectations are that Friday (09.02) will be extremely busy as well. Make sure to keep this in mind when planning your ski vacation in February.
Weather Forecast
New snow is expected for today (02.02). However, the week ahead will be mostly dry with freeze-thaw conditions (max 3°C on Monday (05.02) morning, min -7°C on Friday (02.02) night). Winds will increase – light winds from the North on Friday (02.02) night, fresh winds from the NorthWest by Monday (05.02) morning.
