Snow report 03/01/2023

Happy New Year everyone! This is the first snow report for the season and the year. Unfortunately, I am not here with any good news as I would like it to be at the start of the year.

The snow conditions at the resort remain very poor. The temperatures are way above 0°C. There was no snowfall in the last couple of days. The only good chance for some little skiing is in the time slot 08:30-10:30 AM, when the weather is still colder and the working slope Ulen is not overcrowded with skiers and boarders from beginners to advanced.

snow reports

One hour before the last gondola it’s still not very busy, but the queue right before closing it’s huge!

A quick reminder, the first gondola up is only at 08:30 AM. There are no gondola queues in the morning, but after 09:30 AM the only chairlift working (Kolarski) is getting very busy. Average waiting time is 20-30 minutes. Your only chance is a taxi/shuttle up or drive up the mountain in the morning in order to be ahead of others. Last gondola down is also very busy as there is no option for skiing down the town.

As I previously wrote, slope 8 Ulen is a red one. Beginners should not go there without an instructor supervision. There are icy spots on the slope. In combination with the difficulty of the slope, it makes the presance of total beginners without an instructor on piste very dangerous.

The upcoming Snowboard World Cup (January 21st-22nd) is most likely to be canceled as the conditions won’t be good enough.

On the bright side

  1. There are interesting activities to be done in town. Check the section “Snow activites” HERE.
  2. A beer is always a good idea in the sunny warm days.
  3. The forecast predicts some snow and low temperatures after the 10th of January.

Hopefully, a miracle will happen and next weeks snow report will be full of snow, open pistes and no queues.

    • Hey Shirley,
Usually there is enough snow in the mountain in April, but the conditions are good for skiing only in the morning as the weather gets too warm after 11 am and the snow gets squishy.
Please, keep in mind that the official end of the season is not announced yet but it’s usually around the 15th of April.
      Best regards,
      Annie
