Snow report 15/01/2023

0

Last time I promised you next snow report will sound better. I love keeping my promises and here I am with good news. Despite only 3 slopes are currently working, the situation in the resort has nothing to do with previous weeks. The temperatures are much lower in comparison with December and the snow cannons are working almost non stop. Currently, there are two working blue slopes- number 1 Kolarski and number 10 Shiligarnik 2, as well as the red 8 Ulen. The magic carpet (or also called baby drag) at Banderishka Polyana is working and welcoming all complete beginners.

Snow conditions

The earlier you wake up, the better you will ski. The conditions in the morinig are nearly perfect. Kolarski was not my favorite today as it was icey. Around noon however the slopes are starting to plow. Let me remind you that grooming the slopes is done overnight only. This as well as the colder tempratures in the morning are the reason conditions in the morning are much better. It’s roumoring that one of the Plato slopes will open in the upcoming week. The resort managment is even transportating snow from the snow canons on the ski road to Shiligarnika with trucks to maintain Slope 10 better.  Unfortunately, it does not look like the Ski Road will be open anytime soon as the temperatures in town reach 15°C during the day.

Snow report snow cannons

Snow cannons are working almost constantly, so that more slopes could open sooner.

Waiting time

There is no waiting at the gondola. The busiest ski lift today was Shiligarnik (from Shiligarnika up for slope Number 10). The average waiting time before 10:30 AM there today was less than 10 minutes. Around 11 AM the waiting time was already 20 minutes up, due to the encreasing number of skiers in the ski area. The time after 11 AM will be better utilized with a beer at any of the working bars at Banderishka Polyana. The gondola starts operating at 8:30 AM daily and first chairlifts are at 8:45AM. A good advice is to take a shuttle or a taxi or drive up the mountain around 8 AM in the moring to be first on the slopes.

Everyone are welcome to join at the tribunes free of charge with their lift pass to encourage the sportsman. Kindly note, that due to the tournament, longer waiting time at the gondola is expected.

CAUTION: Avalanche danger!

Due to the snowfall this week, the terrain up at the highest parts of the mountain is unstable. Kindly note, that skiing out of the marked areas is very dangerous.
