It is Friday again and our new snow report is here to update you on the snow and skiing conditions in our favourite winter resort Bansko.
Lifts and Winds
Today was sunny and warm, but extremely windy. Due to the heavy winds, Gondola Cabin Lift was not working up until 2 pm. People were taken to Banderishka polyana with shuttle buses and unfortunately, there was a bit of a queue for the buses.
From mid station up nothing was open either, except for Kolarski lift and there was a pretty big line for it.
Currently (after 2 pm today 26.01) all lifts are open except for Banderitsa 2, Plato, Tsarna Mogila.
Week Overview
Good and heavy snow on Saturday (20.01), however there was quite a long queue for the Gondola in the morning on that day.
The new snow cover on Sunday (21.01) was 30-40 cm. Snow cover on Todorka was 150 cm.
Monday (22.01), Tuesday (23.01) and Wednesday (24.01) followed with great skiing conditions, no wind and lots of sunny hours during the day.
Thursday (25.01) was cloudy and windy and there were some icy areas on the slopes. Overall skiing conditions were not very good on that day. Chalin Valog lift and slope Chalin Valog 2 were open.
Friday (26.01) as we mentioned above was quite sunny, but extremely windy.
Snow and Slopes
As far as the snow is concerned, from mid station down snow is good, but in some parts it is not enough and there are darker areas here and there, plus a few stones showing up, too.
Good news is that Chalin Valog 2 (as mentioned above) has been working since yesterday. However, its steeper parts have not been groomed, so basically there has been only one working slope there except for the Detska Panitsa. Another good news is that there was no queue for the Chalin Valog chair lift.
Currently all slopes are open except for Balkaniada, Strazhite, Tsarna Mogila, Chalin Valog 1, Ski road 2;
Weather Forecast
A dusting of new snow is expected for Saturday (27.01), Sunday (28.01) and Monday (29.01). Temperatures will be below freezing (max -4°C on Saturday morning, min -11°C on Sunday night). Strong winds will gradually start to decrease. Fresh winds from the NNW are expected for Saturday afternoon, light winds from the North by Sunday afternoon.
