The season is close to an end! On Sunday the resort will officially close, preparing for Summer `21 and the next winter season! This is the last snow report for winter 20/21! Usually, we do it every Sunday, but this week it’s earlier. We are hoping that reading it, more of you will decide to come for the closing weekend.
Weather conditions & Snow Cover
The last days the weather was cooling down, leading to this morning, when we had negative temperatures and some heavy snowfall even in town. However, the degrees were positive during the day and the snow in town melted.
In the mountain, it’s was snowing almost the whole day. At the end of the day, there are more than 260 centimeters of snow at the top of the mountain and around 1.5 meters at Banderishka Meadow. The weather forecasters are promising a warm week next week, but the weather on the weekend will be more than perfect for skiing! Temperatures will be around (or less) than 0°C. This means that the snow cover will be stable.
Today it was foggy and cloudy up in the mountain. There were no winds. Tomorrow and on Saturday we still expect some clouds, but on Sunday it will be sunny all the way!
CAUTION: Avalanche danger!
Fresh snow is always a prerequisite for avalanches. Please, be very careful! Artificial blasting of snow masses has begun in order to break off some of the avalanches, but still, the danger is on spot! Off-piste skiing is very tempting for passionate skiers, but it’s forbidden.
Runs & Slopes
Unexpected for this time of the year, most of the slopes are working. The ski road is also operating, despite that, in the end, it’s very squishy and there are some black spots. The fresh snow will fix that. Only the sleeves of Chalin Valog are closed.
There was no waiting time at non of the chairlifts or the gondola. The slopes were empty. Only the Plato Ski Lift was a bit busier, with less than 20-30 people skiing there at one time.
The slopes above in the mountain were perfect for advanced and intermediate skiers. As we have written before in our snow reports, the runs in Bansko are usually maintained overnight. Every time when it snows during the day, the conditions are making it difficult for the inexperienced.
If you are about to visit Bansko in the last days of the resort being open and you are not happy with the experience you have, our instructors will be glad to help you improve! Your lesson is just a click away!
