It’s time for our second Snow Report of the year, a day after the official season opening here in Bansko. Since our last report, a few new slopes have opened and we experienced all sorts of different weather. Good news is that the snow cover is increasing and it looks like we’ll have a good base for the winter.
The lifts currently working are the gondola, the Kolarski lift, the surface lifts on Bunderishka Poliana and the ones along the Kolarski ski run. We expect more lifts to be opening soon, depending on the conditions. Our best guess is that the Shiligarnika lift will be next to start spinning, or maybe even Bunderitza and the Plato if there’s enough snow up top. There still aren’t any queues for the lifts, which is normal for this time of year. We’re expecting the resort to start filling up around Christmas and New Years, but by then most lifts will probably be working. Lift passes are also reduced to 35lv/day for now.
Currently, only about 1/3 of the pistes are open. These are the Kolarski and Tomba ski runs, as well as the smaller Stara Pista and Ulen ski runs. The Ski Road is also open, connecting the ski area with the bottom gondola station. Conditions on the open slopes are good given how early it is in the season, no rocks or ice either. During the morning there was heavy snowfall in the mountain with high humidity. We’re expecting more slopes to open as the forecast is for another 20-30cm to fall overnight and more throughout the week.
