It was quite windy week here in Bansko, but still a great start of the Winter Season 2021/2022.

The last few days the weather was warming up, but at the beginning of the week we had negative temperatures and quite windy days. On Monday the top of the resort was closed due to strong wind and only Kolarski and the drag lifts at Bandetista and Shiligarnika were working. Tuesday conditions were a bit better, but still the top remained closed till Wednesday when all was back working and people were able to ski the Plato again. For Christmas temperatures were around 0°C degrees and they will stay like this also next week, when we are expecting the weather to stay a bit warmer.

Bansko ski resortLast snowfall was on December 18th and now at the top the snow cover is 130 cm. The weather forecast doesn’t show any new snow next week, but the conditions of the slopes are more than perfect for skiing! Temperatures will be around (or less) than 0°C, that means that the snow cover will be stable.

Overall it was sunny and nice week here in Bansko resort

CAUTION: Avalanche danger!

Already there is enough snow for the forest rides next to the slopes and chances to enjoy some bits of proper freeride, but the strong wind at the top parts of the mountain creates potential avalanche danger for off-piste skiing. Don’t forget off-piste skiing is very tempting, but it’s forbidden. For your own safety, follow the regulations and do not leave the marked ski areas.

Skiing off-piste is forbidden! Avalanches are possible also in the forest!

Runs & Slopes

The unexpected perfect snow conditions for this time of the year offered great days on the slopes. Almost all slopes are working, only Chalin Valog and the ski road that starts from the bottom station of  Mosta chair lift (ski road 2) are still closed. Ski road 1 is officially open and you can enjoy going back to Bansko by ski.

Normally for Christmas Holidays we are used to seeing the mountain much busier, but not this year. Till now we enjoyed non waiting for the chairlifts and quiet slopes, even on those days, when the top was closed, due to the strong wind.
