It’s one of the last days on skis for 2017 and conditions were great on the mountain the last few days. Thursday through Friday brought in over 20-30cm of new snow on the slopes, while today we had bluebird skies. Temperatures are below freezing in the ski area and the snow cannons are working on the still closed slopes. Tomorrow we’ll send off 2017 with a big show in the town center.
Most lifts are working with the gondola starting to let people in around 8:15. If you don’t want to wait too long on the gondola queue, it’s good to be there with already purchased tickets by 8:30 AM. All lifts are working, except the Chalin Valog lift and the 6 seat Todorka lift, with lift lines not too bad. Once the Todorka lift opens, lines should be even more spread out. The surface lift at the bottom of Chalin Valog is running as well.
The slope conditions are superb in the morning, with freshly shaped runs waiting for everyone that got up in time. No new slopes have opened since our last snow report, but with yesterdays snowfall and the cold weather, we’re expecting the N.5 Shiligarnika 1 and Balkaniada ski runs to open soon. The Chalin Valog ski area isn’t going to open soon unless a big snowstorm rolls in. Unfortunately, until these runs open it’s going to be a little crowded on the slopes come 11 o’clock.
By the afternoon, conditions on the N.10 ski run that connects the Plato and Shiligarnika start to deteriorate, but the Plato is still very good at that time. The Ski Road is also open all the way down to the town with all of the restaurants open as well.
