Conditions in Bansko were great today, with perfectly blue and sunny skies and very little wind at the top of the ski area. During the day, the temperatures on the slopes are somewhere between 0°C and 7°C, depending on where you are on the mountain. Good news is that the price of lift passes bought on the spot will drop by 20% from the 15th of March until the end of the season, which is scheduled for the 15th of April.
All lifts in the resort are working and there were almost no lines up on the mountain. There is still a queue at the gondola station, but it’s shorter than during the high season in February. Many lifts weren’t working last week due to heavy winds and there is a possibility for the wind to pick up again on Monday in the higher parts of the mountain. The forecast is for Sunday to be another sunny and perfect day like today, but there is a chance of rain on Monday. Tuesday and onwards we’re expecting sunny and partly cloudy weather.
The slopes are in good condition in the morning with a nice corduroy finish, but they do get slushy in the afternoon, once the temperatures rise. The slopes don’t deteriorate too badly, as there are fewer people on the slopes than in February and the snow cover is sufficient enough to last until the end of the season. For intermediate skiers, one of the best slopes is the N.2 Banderiza piste, that runs under the Bunderiza 2 chairlift. The pistes in the Chalin Valog ski area are slushier than up top, but there are even fewer people skiing the red and black runs there, so it’s not too bad in the afternoon. The ski road is very slow at the bottom, so we suggest getting your skis waxed if they haven’t been serviced recently or feel slow.
The Snow Park was closed since the end of February due to big snowfalls followed by heavy winds, but the park crew has started work on rebuilding it. Currently, only the rail section is open, but the jumps should be finished within the next 2-3 days if the weather permits. Conditions off-pistes are heavy and not very stable on the steeper open faces of the mountain.

Last night the piste basher got a little work done on fixing the park. Hopefully, it’ll be open soon.
