Not much new over the last 7 days here in Bansko. There was a little bit of snow in the beginning of the week higher up in the mountain, but nothing significant. The Chalin Valog ski area is closed, but other than that, the resort is working.
Snow conditions are still good, despite the warm temperatures during the day. The slopes are bone hard up until 10-11AM, after which they start to soften. If you plan on skiing before 10AM, then make sure your edges are sharp as you’ll need all the grip you can get. As there are very few people on the slopes, they don’t get ruined too fast and are skiable throughout the whole day. In the afternoon conditions are soft and slushy, but still relatively flat. The conditions are best on the Todorka and Balkaniada ski runs if your looking for more advanced slopes which are hardpacked.
All of the chairlifts are working in the upper part of the mountain as well as all ski slopes. Sad news for the ski road fans, it’s officially closed. With temperatures well over 15°C in town, it would need a miracle to work any longer. Did we mention, lift lines are non-existent as well. If you’re wondering what to wear on the slopes it’s good to now that before 10AM it’s quite cold, after which it drastically warms up. If you don’t plan on being the first up, dress accordingly for around 5°C.
